I had a service order in for my 30GB back in December, but I wanted to wait until I got my 60GB back. I'm finally ready to send it in but haven't gotten a respo from carsupport.

I know they were pretty much closing it down but I had this irrational hope that since it was supposed to go in for repair, and the 60GB repair took 4 MONTHS to do, that I might be able to get it done.

Am I out of luck?

I think there was a post somewhere from Rob saying that any support issues that had been opened prior to the dissolution of the support department would be resolved.

Greetings!

What kind of problem are you having with it? Display? Physical damage? Maybe it is somthing that can be corrected directly.

That should be covered if you get it in VERY soon.

I know Rob is down to the last few repairs now - these are ones that are non trivial and have taken a long time. One of them required ten hours of diagnosis (OK so if we had KNOWN it would take ten hours we'd have thrown it in the bin and replaced it) which is slowing things down somewhat.

I'm going to respond to this publically as you would seem to have set precedent.

I'm not sure your posts entirely convey the facts! It did take a long time to arrange to get your players in (as this was right at the time David resigned and FedEx didn't want to do business with us in Holland) however when we received your first player it was repaired and returned in three weeks. Again, that was longer than we'd have liked, but the player was sent back mid April.

Return for the second player was authorised back in March. I realise you didn't want to send both players in at once, but your first player was returned to you almost two months ago - you could have sent the second player back any time during that period using the documentation we provided you with. Had you done so it would have been fixed under warranty. We provided lots of notice that support would be discontinued at the end of May, since SONICblue are in the process of going out of business and Rob's contract has ended.

The turn around time for my player, including delays caused by changing support was January->April.

When I recieved the player the Playlists had between 1 and 4 songs each on them. I tried unsuccessfully for a few days to fix it, finally the empeg stopped responding to hyperterm (bad cable? who knows?). Work picked up, and I wasn't going to send back my 30 until I'd fixed my 60. As my 30 was already scheduled for repair I didn't think returning it would be an issue. I've been so busy I didn't realize it was June until 2 days ago.

I could have sent my 30 in April/May, but the empeg that was returned to me may have been repaired, but it was NOT functional. Given my experience with the support process I wasn't going to throw a good empeg after a bad one.
