Hi,

Got my new player. Love it, only one issue using the 1.0X and the 2.00-beta3 release. While DHCP works at home with no problem, I can not get it to work at work.

The differences between home and word are the following:
* Work uses ISC DHCPd, Home is the Cisco 678 DSL Router
* Work uses real ip's, while I'm on NAT at home
* Work DHCP server is on a diffrent subnet on a different segment of network. We're using Cisco's dhcp-helper (i believe) to get the requests and ack's to and from..

This setup works for all of the Windows, Mac, and Linux boxen on the network but the Empeg just hates me. Once I set the IP manually with the serial cable, it works great.

We've checked the DHCP server logs, and the request is getting there, but either the lease is not getting back to the player or the player is ignoring it.

I tried searching on this, but DHCP tends to bring tons of posts with boot messages.. and I even checked the faq.. woo.

What does the log look like on the empeg? DHCP send/Recieve messages get sent out the serial port like the boot messages.

Hmm, don't know why you're having that trouble, but you can work around it by setting the player to a fixed IP address that falls within the desired DHCP range...

Rather defeats the purpose of having DHCP at all..

Esp if I have to reconfigure the player each time I'm at home and then when I go to work.

*sigh*

if i could bind two ip's.. that'd be cool. eth0 , eth0:1...

Right, I was merely suggesting a work-around until the issue could be resolved.

Esp if I have to reconfigure the player each time I'm at home and then when I go to work.

There is a description of how to handle this in the FAQ.

Also, for what it's worth, that paste from Hyperterminal is mangled, but you get the idea. I'm not sure why the buffer of HT got like that.. but go figure, I'm sure it's the exact same version that came with 95, now in XP. :)
