I'm not sure how many of you are like this, but I am extraordinarily healthy. So much so that everyone I know is jealous of it

Here's some little factoids to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:
1) On average, for every two years of my life, I've been sick once (for no more than a day).
2) The last time I was sick was 3 years ago.
3) In the entire time I was in school, I missed about 2 days due to illness.
4) I have absolutely no medicine in my home. No Aspirin, no Advil, no Tylenol, no nothing. I never take these things when I'm sick, either.

I don't know why this is. I never took vitamins when I was little, except when I slept over at friends' houses and their moms had the nerve to force their ideas about health on me (I was always a bit indignant about this). I don't eat well, and I don't excercise. I wasn't a complete couch potato as a kid, either. I was a boy scout (made Eagle), played football freshman year of high school, crew the next year, etc.

I've had about 4 bad headaches in my life, which really frustrates my friends and my girlfriend, who frequently get migraines.

The only thing I have is a condition called eliptocytosis, which is when the red blood cells take a different shape, instead of the normal round shape. It's sort of an anemia. When I'm sick, and the cells are trying to fight the sickness already, if I put a lot of stress on myself, the red blood cells break down incredibly easily.

Two years ago I had this happen and didn't know it was the cause (I knew I had it, though). The wonderful folks at the college health center referred me, in a super-weak, light-headed state, to an oncologist. I didn't quite grasp this at the time, but was pretty scared by the time I got to his office the next day. However, he explained it wasn't cancer, but a condition caused by my disorder. He prescribed me some folic acid, which supes up my red blood cell production (at this time, my red blood cell count was half what it should have been).

So yesterday, after driving back 5 hours after a 4 hour football game, I must have been sick because I felt like total crap. I could barely stand up, I was light-headed, and very sleepy. Well you know what? Cheerios have 50% of the daily supply of folic acid.

I ate two large bowls, and today I feel just fine.

So not only do I get sick under one condition, that sickness is cured by Cheerios. I eat the frosted kind to make the medicine go down easier

This statement makes it extremely obvious that you have no young kids in public schools or daycare.

...am I right?

True. Although I'm not really old enough for that just yet

But I have been around sick people before. Whenever my parents are sick or my girlfriend is sick, I don't get sick.

And my "cow-orkers", wow, they're sick constantly.

This drives me nuts. I was sick probably twice all the way through college. Now, that I live in the sme town as my sister and her son (5yrs) and daughter(2yrs) I seem to get sick annually. I have to remember not to babysit during the cold and flu seasons.

I never got sick either, until about 26ish. Since then I get sick every year as bad as anyone. How old are you now?

the college health center referred me, in a super-weak, light-headed state, to an oncologist.
This basically happened to me once. I went to Drake (the clinic at Auburn) with these weird lumps on my arms. They immediately said "well, we need to stick you with this big needle, drain one of those and see if it's cancer. Being young and full of I can't have cancer, I'm only 19, I went to a real doctor the next day. Turns out it was cat-scratch fever. A fungal infetion of the lymph nodes cause by actually being scratched by a cat with this fungus on it's claws. What's the cure for cat-scratch fever? Nothing. Wait it out. It took 2.5 years, but they went away.

Worth noting that many of my cow-orkers have school-aged children, but I also never get sick. In fact, 3 of them (including Mom and Dad, my cow-orkers) were sick with Influenza Type A last week when I was sitting at their house, completely surrounded by them, for Thanksgiving dinner!

FWIW, I also attribute never having missed a day of school or work due to illness in my entire 43 years of life (and 18 years of worklife) to ingesting no man-made pharmaceuticals whatsover.

I have a 3 year old, I smoke a pack a day, I eat things like little chocolate donuts for breakfast, fast food for lunch, lately for about the past 3 years have gotten little to no excercise. I lead the most unhealthy lifestyle of anyone I know.

I rarely get sick, small colds every now and then that last months due to smoking, but nothing that takes me out. I haven't been sick or run a fever in over 3 years.

I went to the doctor to get a checkup, had my bloodwork done, I expected my cholesterol to be over the top. He called me a week later and told me I'm perfectly healthy... Blood chemistry, blood pressure, everything, A-Ok...

I think it's a cockroach effect. It should be noted the only thing I take is tylenol, for when my back hurts or a joint aches or something. I take that maybe once a month. I'm 31...

I do have issues with dry skin.

The only time I get sick is after I drink a bottle of whiskey, and that's only because it gives me a headache to drive at the same time. My cow-orkers are pretty much the same.

Oh yeah, I should have mentioned that, too. I've always had low cholesterol, despite having three grandparents died of smoking, one die of a heart attack, and a whole family history of bad eating habits.

I wonder if any of this has to do with the fact that I drink about a half gallon of milk every day...

I never drink milk and rarely eat dairy. At this age, I wouldn't drink my mom's breast milk, so why the hell should I drink a cow's?

The last time I was sick was when I had chicken pox in 8th grade. Before that, I had pneumonia in 4th grade. I don't get colds or anything like that.
