Son of a ... Well I tried to post a minute ago about my schools slow-arsed connection and Ironically it timed out and I lost my post before it got sent.. even tried resfreshing it in hopes it would save it. Anywas, basically im trying to find a simple proxy server for SunOS 5.6. My connection here in my apartment on campus was just tested (by me) to be 49.9k .. basically slower then dialup. The strange thing is that I can download files at up to 500k, but I can't get to a webpage without waiting an average of 30 seconds. They have everything so messed up they dont know what to do to fix it. When I tried to find out whats wrong/help out/complain they just give me lies and say it will be fixed soon. So what I want to do is setup a proxy on the sun server here that I have access to because I know it can reach webpages at a reasonable speed. I tried installing Sun's One proxy server but it wouldn't install. It kept on asking me for my user group, I tried everything but nothing would work. When I run groups it says im part of the group 'user' but that didn't work either. A server that is smaller in size would be better as well as suns was over 50megs after extraction. Any recomendations?

Thanks,
Greg

use junkbuster as a proxy, and get ad squishing for free.

Squid is pretty much the standard freeware proxy these days. You might even be able to find a binary distribution.
