I connecting to my empeg, checking to bootlog after getting one of those USB to Serial adapters... The boot log looks all garbled up. Anyone have any tips on setting one of these up? Is the one I got too slow or something?

Are you capturing to a file? Many times, screen buffer captures tend to show this kind of thing.

I agree with Paul. Capture to a file. Ditch hyperterminal if possible too. I'm guessing you are using cut and paste using hyperterminal.

This seems to happen quite often on boot log captures for some reason - probably the 115200 baud with no flow control doesn't help eventhough the average PC should be able to hand those kind of data rates.

Oh and we use a large number of these USB-serial adapters quite successfully.

Looking at the log, it seems it's overwriting things. You can see player messages at the very beginning of log well before the player even starts.

Hmm. Yeah. Just ran it and it doesn't seem to support serial. I use SecureCRT for SSH and serial and it works great but it is expensive.

Teraterm works well. PuTTY does not (yet?) support serial connections.
