I recently started a new job, and my new employer gave me my choice of laptops. I already own a 15" Powerbook, so naturally, I chose... a 15" Powerbook. So now I have two, and only need one. Therefore, I'm selling mine.

It's a 15" Aluminum Powerbook, 1 GHz CPU,with 768MB RAM, a 60GB HD, a Combo drive (CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM) and an Airport Extreme (802.11g) card installed. It was purchased on 3/10/04, which means I've used it for about 10 months. This means it's still eligible for an AppleCare protection plan (more on that later.)

As you can see from the pictures, it has one small but certainly noticable dimple on the aluminum shell where it got dinged. There was no other damage of any kind except that dimple, and other than that "cosmetic feature," it's in excellent condition. The display is perfect, has no dead pixels, and none of the "white spots" that occurred on some early Aluminum G4s. In addition, the latching mechanism is flawless, that was also a problem on early Aluminum Powerbooks.

To decide on a fair price, I searched EBay's completed auctions, and I was able to find one near-exact match here that sold for $1545 plus shipping. The only differences are that mine is about 4 months older, and it has the aforementioned ding on the outer shell.

Because I'd rather not deal with EBay, I'm willing to knock $245 off of that and sell for $1300 plus shipping. Or, if you prefer, I can purchase an AppleCare Protection plan (which is tied to the unit itself, therefore transferrable to you as the new owner) for $349, and sell it to you for $1649. If you choose not to buy AppleCare, you can still purchase it yourself any time before my original purchase date of 3/10/2005.

Here are a few pictures:

About screen showing specs:

It comes with all the cables, manuals etc. shown in the picture on the EBay auction listed above. If you have any other questions, please post them here so I don't have to answer them multiple times. If you're ready to buy, send me a PM.

Thanks!

Update: I have one person who's written me to express interest, but I haven't heard back from him yet. If anyone else is interested, let me know, and if my current offer falls through, you'll be next in the queue.

Okay, I officially declare the would-be buyer a deadbeat. Powerbook is still available. I'll give it a few more days before I grudgingly head to Ebay.

Given the Powerbook upgrades announced today, I'm dropping my ask price by $100, to $1200, or $1549 with Applecare. This is definitely my last price drop before Ebay this weekend.

Damn that technology turnover. I am finally getting around to selling a 12" Powerbook because I'm just not using it enough and the funds are better applied elsewhere. Wish I had managed this conclusion 3-4 months ago!

No takers, so it's on EBay now:

Well, all hail (what still remains of) Craig's List. A gent came and got mine last eve.

(Will be interested to see how Craig's List goes with eBay's interest. No 3% charge or $500 limit....yet!)
