Dump the existing stereo and install ONLY the empeg.

After seeing a pic of the dash in question, I don't blame him for keeping the existing, if not only for aesthetic reasons. There's a big hole to fill if it is removed. Plus he'll lose his AM/FM and Weatherband radio.
