When the fast food joint Burger King first opened, their slogan was ``Have It Your Way'', meaning that you got to choose what toppings you wanted on your burger. (AFAIK, this is still their slogan, or one of them.) However, they took this so far as to mean that there was no default configuration. You had to tell them exactly what you wanted, even if it was an ISO-standard mustard-ketchup-pickles burger. This procedure was quickly changed as people, like you, didn't want to specify everything.

Personally, I like to get what I want, not what someone else wants. But I understand your point.
