I also had thought about this, but I don't know of any access points that can be hacked to be used as a receiver for wardriving.

Wardriving software normally talks to the wireless card (PCI or PCMCIA) directly to scan for wireless networks in range. You'd need an access point that could somehow take commands over ethernet to do this, and I don't believe this is possible with any APs today.
