According to a recipe I've just been reading, "faggots are enjoyed all over Yorkshire" (from whence I post) and are of Roman origin.

Curiously I've never been offered a faggot in Yorkshire (Careful: the meatball one) and only half the Yorkshire folk in my office have ever heard of one, none regard it as a local delicacy.
