Back when I was in your position, I think the wording was actually "newbie". Which peeved me slightly at the time, too!

And for the record, I've never owned a playstation, nintendo, x-box, or anything else of that genre in my life. Though I do admit to having played the original Wing Commander and Loom games. Oh, and Castle Wolfenstein, too. That one was fantastic in 1982!
