So, I successfully use M2 x 6. That's 6mm long, 2mm longer than the originals, it seems. I'm not sure how M2 worked where you should have had M2.5 nor how that would be 2mm longer. M2 should be too small if M2.5 is what is required. Basically the outside of the M thread is 2 or 2.5mm in diameter, the x 6 means it's 6mm long.
