Ehr 180 % Tax ? Are you ... serious ?

I've been corresponding with one of the empeg owners in Denmark (I'll let him identify himself here if he is so inclined) and the 180% tax isn't all of it...

To start with, there's the 25% national sales tax. Then the 180% registration tax. Then there's the fuel efficiency tax that can run another few percentages (I don't know that one). Factor in the average income tax of about 50%, and to purchase a car with a manufacturers price of $16,000 could require as much as $100,000 gross salary.

Absolutely staggering. It amazes me that there are any automobiles at all in Denmark.
