Quote: They do, but only in certain areas. I know New York City is one of them as well as parts of CA and NV.
I switched from T-Mobile to Cingular a couple weeks after the AT&T buyout went into effect. The service on Cingular is so vastly better than T-Mobile it's hard to believe. I recenlty drove from Tenafly, NJ to my house in Middletown, NY on the phone the whole way and the call never dropped. That's over 50 miles through areas that used to be extremely spotty with cell service. Everywhere I go it seems the service is pegged at 5 bars. I am not kidding. I haven't been in a situation yet where there was no service.*

Wow! That sounds encouraging. Maybe Cingular will work out after all. I'll miss my tdma phone - it's been a tank: I dropped it in a puddle once. I immediatly took the battery out, and put both parts on the defroster vent, with heat and A/C for a 4 hour drive. A year later, it's still working fine. Just more and more of those annoying fast busy signals when I try to dial.
thanks!
