Gasoline is highly (albeit indirectly) subsidized in America and sells for only about $1.60 a gallon.

Christ, Doug, what color is the sky on your planet? We're paying $2.03 a gallon where I live.

Obviously, it's regional. You guys just siphon your gas directly out of the Alaskan pipeline, but some of us have to actually PAY for the stuff.


I was going to ask why so high

/me pulls up his gas log for his 11 month old car:

The lowest I have payed is $1.319, and the highest is $1.899 (empeg meet). My average is $1.514

Taking out the two road trips, the average falls to $1.483, and highest goes to $1.699 (The peak of the price hike last summer)

I guess they just enjoy nailing the people who sit in traffic quite a bit to make more on all the wasted gas from idiling engines.
