In North Dakota, it was always easy to tell who got transferred to base since the last snowfall. One year, in the 13 miles between base and town, there were over 30 cars in the ditch. That was just on one side of the highway. There were always a great mixture of 4WD and 2WD. If you don't know how to drive whatever you are driving, it is easy to end up in the ditch.
