It only takes that long when you take it out of the car and put it back into the car sled before starting to drive.

If you leave it in the car, the unit is fed a small amount of power to keep the memory alive, that means instant boot-up then.

Anyway, the boot-up time when I put it back into the sled after having had the unit with me is not bad at all, getting setup and comfortable in the car usually takes longer. :)

So if you're navigating out of your drive-way... that'll surely be enough time. :)
