I have mine set to a long (2 hour) timeout. This means that if i duck into a shop or something, the player will start up promptly. Not that 10 seconds or something is long.
The only problem with this is that there is occational false triggering to restart the unit. That is, I can leave the car and come back to find it playing. A bit creepy and a bit insecure. There must be some IR patterns that restart it.
Is it true that there is only one code on the Rio remote to restart the player. Any key on the Kenwood will awake it and I don't really think that this is too good.
