The Optoma HD27 arrived here this afternoon, and the "head to head" comparison took all of five minutes to declare a runaway winner..

Returning the Optoma to Costco -- it has a high frequency whine (the colour wheel?) that makes it intolerable. Fan noise is similar to the BenQ, perhaps ever so slightly softer. But that whine.. Forget it. And the remote control works only if I stand in front of the projector and point it directly at the sensor. Duh.

The BenQ MH530FHD is the (rather obvious) keeper.
