Problem is US specific but you are talking about Paris ?

The connector is hard to find in the US.

As he is going to Paris later this year he could buy one for him while he's over here in Europe (where the connector is more available).

If anyone is in need of the connector and can't find one (semi)locally, let me know. I have a male/female set left over from that $30 amplified antenna adapter kit (I have VW). Not all 8 positions are populated (see this post) so you'd have to find those special little crimp contacts that fit in the connector for the rest of the positions...
