I had a great Grundig car radio a few years back that could do something like this. Normally, it was triggered by the ignition line, just like the empeg player. If, however, you turned it on within 15 minutes or so after ignition was killed, you got 30 minutes playing time even with with ignition off. Then you could turn it on within 15 minutes again for another half hour, etc.

A feature - empeg worthy !
(in doing it the Grundig-way, it doesn't even need a dedicated key-press )
