Quick question has any one looked in to enabling firewire on the empeg via the hard drive connector.

As you can plug a Firewire adapter on to a normal laptop hard drive and that Firewire is not a master/slave technology like usb could a hard drive to Firewire connector be used in reverse.

As mentioned before the empeg has no IDE controller , the drives are controlled from the processo.

Any ideas?

C.

No, nobody has tried this. Go for it. Let us know how far you get.

It won't work for firewire to talk to the empeg (not with a firewire->ide adaptor, at least); however, with some extra circuitry you could soft-switch the drive between the empeg and the firewire adaptor - but your PC would then have to deal with the ext2 filesystem (etc).

The IDE bus is the best (only?) way to fairly painlessly add I/O to the empeg, though.
