Okay i am back early after discovering a few nasties about my new/ex company

But anyway that is not the point of this post (if there is in fact a point to this post)

Okay before i left i bought a load of socks, then my baggage got lost so i bought some new socks then my baggage returned to me leaving me with a vast surplus of socks.

This leaves me in a unique position after disposing of all surplus and odd socks from my sock supply i am now down to two types of socks.

How long before i get into a no matching sock situation ?

let the experiment begin

This raises an interesting point - and there was a point to your post: I always buy the same socks from M & S to the extent of keeping a note of the reference number, so that, in theory, when I open the sock draw with a hangover I can pick the nearest two socks, without having to pair them up.

So, how come, I have a motley collection of black and navy socks, long, short, half mast, ribbed, plain, patterned?

Point 2, never let your wife buy the socks, they'll never understand that black socks go with everything and the Italian designer range goes into holes after two outings.

Point 3, we live in a throw away age, how do women occupy their time, in my youth, they sat in a circle chatting whilst they darned the men's socks? No. now I come to think about it, throwing them away and doing more meaningful things is a much better idea.

Sorry the job didn't work out, nice to hear from you though.

Sorry to hear about the new place

If you've only got two types of socks then you only ever need to yank out a maximum of three socks before you have a pair. You'd have to loose all but 2 to possibly have a no matching sock situation but hopefully you'd notice before you end up with only two socks

I'm just curious as to where lost socks go. I've got my own washing machine so it's not that I'm leaving them in the laundrette somewhere. If they were getting stuck to the inside of the washing machine then I'd find them the next time I did a load... If they were getting lost in my chest of drawers then I'd find a big ball of socks somewhere...

It's all down to quantum tunneling.

Discovered the first single unidentifable sock with no matching partner.

So only 1 month 26 days

Well, technically, two. You just have not found the other one yet...

You know how kids have a piece of elastic linking their gloves together so that they don't lose them?
If you had a long piece of elastic sewn to the left sock, up the trouser leg, past the crotch and down the right leg and sewn to the right sock, none of these problems would occur1

What's all this about matching socks? I have, on more than one occasion, gone to work wearing one black and one grey sock. I didn't get strange looks off of anyone. Well, no more than usual....

I was introduced to Maggie Thatcher wearing a black Oxford and a black Brogue, I think, however, that the withering look she gave me had more to do with my intellect than my choice of shoes!
