This raises an interesting point - and there was a point to your post: I always buy the same socks from M & S to the extent of keeping a note of the reference number, so that, in theory, when I open the sock draw with a hangover I can pick the nearest two socks, without having to pair them up.
So, how come, I have a motley collection of black and navy socks, long, short, half mast, ribbed, plain, patterned?
Point 2, never let your wife buy the socks, they'll never understand that black socks go with everything and the Italian designer range goes into holes after two outings.
Point 3, we live in a throw away age, how do women occupy their time, in my youth, they sat in a circle chatting whilst they darned the men's socks? No. now I come to think about it, throwing them away and doing more meaningful things is a much better idea.
Sorry the job didn't work out, nice to hear from you though.
