Okay, maybe "historic" is getting too dramatic , but Jan. 1st, 2004 at 9pm EST, I will be "net" DJing at WOTR (www.wayoutthere.net) until 12am by streaming off of my empeg! I don't quite have Paul's collection, but I'll have 140GB of tunes ready for anyone that has any requests.
I'm using CharcoalGray99's web interface to queue music to Winamp 2.91 then I'm using Shoutcast to stream to the server. So the music get streamed from the empeg in my living room to yours! I've tested it over the last few days during my audition with the station and it worked without a hitch.
So anyway, I thought it'd be fun to share with you guys. Wouldn't be possible without my empeg, HiJack and CharcoalGrey!
Brad
Off Topic: WOTR was started to serve the members of There.com (the mass player, virtual world that is a blast to play). But I'm looking forward to being able to share music with my friends that live too far away to go to any of the parties that I play music at. If any of you are interested in trying out There.com, you need to "apply" and wait a few weeks to get in. If you want to get in quicker, you need someone to "refer" you and then that person gets some "virtual money" if you end up paying for the service. If anyone here wants to sign up, my ID is "B_R_A_D" and I'll give you whatever T$ they pass my way. RiCiN was on once, and it'd be nice to get some other empegers in There!

I'm up live right now, if anyone wants to send a request: "wotr_brad" via YaHoo!'s messanger and "OldDirtyBrad" via AOL IM.

Technically speaking, your performance would be more reliable if you copied the trax to your PC first...

Oh, I know, but it's cooler to be able to say it's streaming from my car stereo! It's also good because I know my playlists very well.

I know it's not quite the same but my empeg was used at a friend's for his NYE party. In fact, it's been used at 3 house warmings as well and looks great with my docking station. It also means I get to show off my empeg to a much wider audience. One of these days I'll get around to painting the dock.

Yeah, I play at parties with mine all the time (probably not quite as big as the one your mentioning however). It does make a great conversation peice. I usually make my playlists up as I go along, so having a search feature is great too via emplode.

Mine used for NYE party with friends round.
Used playlists to randomly play various genres, inside a non-randomised playlist which was used to string the genres together with good interlinking songs.
Had a 12:00 playlist which was inserted just before to play Big Ben, Auld Lang Syne etc, then back into the playlist again for the party music.

Before I installed it in my car I just had it running in my bedroom and played sex tunes while romancing women. The VFD was the only light source in the room and was bright enough to let me see what I was "doin" ...

am i the only one that thinks that sentence would be less discomfiting if it read '...let me see who i was ...'?
or, perhaps, if i hadnt had to read it at all
(i know, i dint actually have to read it)

One thing I forgot to add is that for anyone that does this (and they are accepting DJ applications now) here or on another swcast server, I'm able to also use the winamp crossfading plug-in. The only thing I wish I could do with the CharcoalGrey99 interface is a search. So sometimes I need emplode open as well.

Hi, I'm going up again in about an hour (9PM EST). I won't bump this thread again, the only reason I am now is because last week there was a server error making new logins impossible if someone didn't login within the first 15 minutes of my air time. Hopefully it's fixed this time around!

Guh?! Are you talking about me? What makes you think I've got anywhere near that number of tracks - my mixing collection (and my empeg) both fit comfortably in 40GB...
140GB. *walks off shaking head and muttering*

Naw, I was thinking of Paul G.. He's got 160GB and I think he was the first to have 120GB when 60GB drives were the largest we could get.
If it makes you feel any better, your mixes occupy a few hundred MB on my player.

I thought I'd post some in-game pics if anyone is interested in checking you There. It's really fun. It's more of an enhanced chat program that a game, but you can still fly hover boats, jet packs, buggies, flying boards, etc. So if you get bored chatting, or aren't feeling too social, you can explore or enter a buggy race. I've seen a few empegers on there, maybe if we get some more, we can start a little club there or something. If anyone wants to sign up, ask around for a current players referal, that'll get you "approved" quicker. Send customsex or ninti a PM, or enter my ID "B_R_A_D".
To really check it out, see Dial Up Video or the really cool Broadband Video. These are all in-game shots and I've experienced most myself. Only the music was added. EDIT: I can't get the videos to stream.. but they download okay.
I've never played The Sims Online, but I guess everyone is making the switch to There. I'm really impressed by the freedom in the game, the niceness of the people and most interestingly, the non-verbal body movement of the avatars... it's like they're alive or something!
