Can anyone tell me the frequency that the KCA-R6A uses ?
I'm thinking about using my empeg-remote for everything.

It's Infra Red, not radio. Are you talking about the encoding scheme the remote uses?

I was talking about the base frequency of the signal.
Right now I'm working with RC5 (Philips and others) which uses 36kHz.

I have a small receiver module (TSOP1736) in every room and would like to know which one to use for the KAC-R6A.
I really prefer this tiny thing over my big old Philips remote.

Here is some info describing the Kenwood protocol.
******************************************************************************
TECHNICAL INFO
******************************************************************************
Code length: 32 bits
Carrier: 39.2kHz

The code is only transmitted once, and after that a stop code is transmitted.

+--------------------------------+
Header: | |
+ +----------------+..
16T 8T
8.8ms 4.4ms

+--+
1 is coded: | |
..+ +------+..
T 3T

+--+
0 is coded: | |
..+ +--+..
T T

+--------------------------------+ +--+
Stop code: | | | |
+ +--------+ +
16T 4T T
8.8ms 2.2ms

T = 550us

Space between transmissions: 95000us between the start of the codes.

To use the code (not with the remote package):
GROUP * 10000h + (Code * 100h) + (Code XOR FFh)

I think you mean the signal clock rate at which the words are generated. Not too sure, I'm afraid.

In reply to:

Carrier: 39.2kHz

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted :)
It looks like I have to replace all my 36kHz modules with 40kHz modules :(
At least it's not 455kHz (old Kenwoods...)
And a TSOP1740 is only ~1$

A related question: I'm toying with the idea of buying an infrared keyboard and getting it to work with the empeg. I know I'll have to write a driver from scratch, but can I expect the IR port to physically be able to pick up signals from a random IR transmitter? What parameters do I have to make sure to match?

Thanks,
Borislav
