I'm trying to install my old favorite composing software that I used over 6 years ago. I know it's a long shot, but I'd like to get it to play nice with 2K. It installed fine, and the MIDI test went smoothly, but I get the following error when I try to run the program:

Try running it in Windows 95 compatibility mode. Does W2K have settings for that? In XP, it's available from the program's properties.

I thought about that compatability mode thing, but I can't seem to find it. I thought I tried using it for another program, but I don't know how. It should be in the properties for the executable, right? I don't see it in there.

Correct.

But there is something similar in Win2K. You can choose the option to "Run in separate memory space" in the shortcut setup. This has solved some (but not all) of the problems I have had trying to run an old 16 bit word processor. It runs adequately (but slowly) in Win2K; there are some deal-killer problems with it in XP. (Under XP it draws all frames opaque over text; and won't print lines or borders on the frames.)

Separate Memory Space isn't going to help him here, the problem is that the Win2K version of the operating system has removed an old, undocumented function call from one of the primary DLL files from Win95. I'm not even sure that Win95 compatibility mode will help him here.

Damn. That really sucks. I liked that program. Now I wish I had gotten that 98 dual boot working. Guess I got scared when it wiped my boot sector

This sucks. I liked that program because it was very easy to use and very simple and small. I hate Finale and I don't have the damn CD for it so I couldn't use it if I wanted to. Computers really bug me sometimes...
