Any recommendations for a linux-friendly (and readily available) PCI gigabit NIC?

I imagine that any that say "Broadcom" on the chip will work gangbusters. If you can actually see the card in the packaging, that is.

That's going to be a challenge... Anyone know if any of the above use a broadcom part?

Get the Intel part. Probably any of those listed will work, though, but I actually *have* some Intel GigE stuff here, so I know those are fine, and the driver is from Intel themselves.

Also supported in the current kernels: MyriCOM, NS-DP83820, PE Hamachi GNIC-II, DLink DL2000, Alteon AceNIC/3Com 3C985/NetGear GA620, PE Yellowfin, Realtek 8169, SIS190, SysKonnect SK-98xx/SK-95xx, Marvell Yukon (including a zillion relabelled versions from 3Com, Marvell, Belkin, etc..), etc..

See attached kernel config file for a more complete list, with a few more notes on which ones have Jumbo frames, do NAPI (fast polling for higher throughput), etc..

Pretty much everything seems to be supported.

intel, that's about the only one I would get out of that list..

broadcom tg3 based also work well, but most of those on the list will be cheapo chipsets.
