But that'd be lame because you'd have to remember to do it. How 'bout some way to run it automatically after any music is added when running anything less than a V3alpha?

Perhaps Hijack could keep track of the highest FID on a player and then on bootup run fidsift when the highest FID has changed?

would you want it in the kernel? easily scripted, and could run from config.ini (I'll need to check this, but it seems reasonable) so that should be all you need.

True. It seems it would be possible to script it. I'm not going to venture it though. I use V3A11 so the motivation is somewhat low for me.

Once again, I don't have an empeg in front of me to check this with, but it ought to be something like:

You'll probably have to specify the path to fidsift.sh.
