While doing some non-empeg work, I came across DPAC/Quatech embedded RJ45 to 802.11b bridges. Very small, with $129/ea pricing (list).

I don't have one, but thought the link might be of interest.

Best,

Imagine one of these wired directly inside the casing of an empeg. Assuming someone could write a configurator app for the empeg's main screen, you could have a wireless empeg from your car without installing a bridge behind your dash. Or bring your empeg anywhere with a 12v AC adaptor, and have it wirelessly connectable.

Hm. I really like this idea.

There'd still be the issue of mounting an antenna outside the faraday cage/steel empeg housing. The only 'harder' part would be supplying the 2.5V supply. It seems compact enough to mount to the rear or sides of the DIN cage, still requiring the RJ plug hack, but neater than a big old WET11.

If I end up moving forward with this part and get any, I'll post details.

Naw, mount it inside and then run the antenna out the keyhole in the back and tape the antenna to the back of the empeg.

Or could the case BE the antenna? Or could a small antenna wire be routed in the blank space behind the fascia?
