I have sat tonight with the empeg on in its lovely stand. I was using display server as a very nice and convient remote control over the LAN.

I realise the current version of displayserver would give the record industry people the absolute willys but a chopped down version with just the display and the remote buttons would be very cool for the futre rio units

Also it could be a payment to frank for all his excellent work.

Well, I must say that I am very flattered by all the responses I have got in the last couple of months. I couldn't have imagined this happen when I started writing the applet and the server. Peculiarly, I had spent some weeks on an LDAP-server for the empeg, which was really cool (at least I thought), and only a few days on displayserver, eventhough people went "ooh" and "aah" over the fact that you can have these cool visuals in your webbrowser.Great marketing. What can I say? I like programming, like other people like crossword-puzzles.
As far as rewarding, I must say that, as some of you would probably have guessed, I am in the alpha team, which has it's advantages.
Secondly I have got a good paying job ( well, probably not compared to a comparable US position, though I'm not sure after last layoffs ) and can suffice in support for my family.
Thirdly(is this correct?), this also adds directly to my work experience. It's always nice to have a line in your CV saying : "author of the most commonly used webserver software for car-stereo"
Fourthly, if you still feel like paying me, I've setup a paypal account today, still gotta find out how this works... Anyway, I will probably put the money on my children's saving-account, to make up for the hours behind the computer
I see forward to meet all the people at the Amersfoort meet at the end of the month; I will promise to show displayserver 2.0, which will not have all proclaimed features by then, but some really cool features where Rob S., in his function of UI-designer, will be quite pleased with.
Well, I am not much of a writer, I've spent about an hour writing this post and I had more to tell, but forgot...

One little request for 2,0 can we have a quick and easy access volume like two buttons below the display of the empeg or either side of the rotary button otherwise i might have to buy a remote for the house as well as the car

and we have a "browse" button to look for the CSV file, but not one for the destination directory... (is the backup utility going to be packaged with the 2.0 display server?)

ps - and the ability to stream the root playlist! :) (as if you havn't done enough already!)

I'm using delphi and the file-selection dialog only allows file selections. Will look for some nice component

I think you mean it should recursively follow playlist when generating the m3u file. I've noticed that an m3u file can contain an URL to an MP3 file as well as an URL to an m3u file, so I think it is a yes...

take you current remote and toss it frisbee-back hand. It stuns.

There is another thread going about abusing would-be thieves with loud noises. Maybe we could just hit them over the head with out remotes instead :-)

OMG they changed the picture! You can no longer tell if it says stun/kill in the new one. I really hope somebody saved the other one!
