I'm trying to install a PCATS memory board into a MKII player, thus I need to update the bootloader to version 9. Anybody got a copy of the .rom file I need? I have the install manual, just need the bootlaoder file. Thanks to all who can help.

I don't know that anyone ever even tried the 0e000 flash stuff on a Mk2 -- it was originally intended for Mk2a units, though the code may be common -- I'll check that here shortly.

Meanwhile, I did dig up this old post by me, referring to Hijack's built-in export for RAM expansion:

EDIT: since the 0e000 files are installed by the s/w upgrade process, it appears that Mk2 and Mk2a units share the exact same file. Good. But you don't need to replace it for extra RAM.

Cheers

Here's a link to Hugo's original 0xe000 hack.

But I'm pretty sure this is unnecessary now.

Awesome, Mark...so this means I don't need to mess with the bootloader?

That's the idea. You can still mess with it if you like (just one simple command to upgrade it), but there's really no need to.

Cheers

Sounds good to me...doesn't seem worth the possible damage should the player lose power mid-upgrade. I'll just throw the board in and see what I get, haha.

The chunk of code you load into E000 isn't the protected bootloader. You can reflash it with the serial flash utility.
