Yeah, it was totally spur of the moment, because the Empeg usually lives on my desk at work. One of my co-workers brought in all his soldering stuff and set it up to repair some Christmas ornaments with bad capacitors on his lunch break. Since it was there and all setup, I figured I would go ahead and do the internal wiring for the BlueGigaEmpeg. I never got back to it today as things got busy at work, so I'll let you know when I finish up.

I just use Q-Tips (cotton swabs) doused in alcohol. If the joints have rough bits, I smooth them over with more solder/heat (and FLUX!) first.

Cheers

Yeah, I have tried Q-tips as well, but it inevitably leaves little cotton strands all over my work, so I have to go scanning for them. smile

Day job method:

I usually give everything a good soak in good flux remover (eg, MG Chemicals 413B) using a brush or Q-tip to get any burnt or big 'goobers' of flux loose. Then dab off as much of the flux remover as possible using a paper towel, and give a second soak in flux remover.

Then finish with a wash in deionized water, finally blow the water off with compressed air.

The Empeg (and RAM) is current sitting in a box in my basement.

Just moved into a new house today smile Still got a bunch of moving and setup and other stuff to get up to, when that's done I'll do the RAM upgrade and try out the SATA adapter.
