Empeg Mark II
S/W - Not sure
Hijack V334
Emplode V2 (Windows 10 - 64bit)

My Empeg has been installed in a 1997 Nissan Skyline R33 for > 20 years, upgraded to a 30Gb disk at stage
Both car and Empeg rarely used in the last 10 years.
Hard Disk has died, won't spin up

My attempts to get a new hard disk working has been unsuccessful so far as I can't get connectivity to the unit which I thought would be the easy part of replacing the HDD but has caused me quite a number of late nights trying to reprocess all the old information on the internet and in my brain.

My first goal is to get connectivity with the unit:

Ethernet
- Unit set to AC and Home
- Blue LED at the back is on
- Switch detects port
- Emplode V2.0 installed onto Windows 10 64bit
- No response from unit in Emplode
- No DHCP request from Empeg on network

No idea what IP address is on the unit as all I can access is Hijack menu and 'No Hard Disk Found - Contact Support".
I do suspect that I had set a IP address as some stage as it would have made it easier to locate on the network but no idea what the range would have been. If at work would have been something other than 192.168.0.x

Is there any other way to determine what the IP address is so I can set my PC range accordingly? I'm guessing it's in the 10.x.x.x range

USB

I only have access to 2 x Windows 10 64bit laptops so I think this is out unless I want to mess around with a VM

Serial

Purchased a USB to RS232 Adapter - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/315623365869? and now waiting on a DB9 female to DB9 female null modem cable to arrive as no idea where my original one is.

Cross fingers that this detects the unit then I plan to use the big bisk build to format a 60Gb disk.

The operating system is stored on the hard drive. So if it is not working, then most of the networking code will be unavailable. That's why that part isn't functioning.

So, serial port is the only easy option now.

Cheers
