SpectroLog 128 has become my favorite visual and it's pretty much the only one I leave it on now. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a song that would really make this visual show it's magic. Maybe a song with soft parts that transition into something that really rocks. Or maybe even some classical music, or jazz. Any suggestions would be great.


...I don't know if anyone seen the water show in front of the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas but that's what this visual reminds me of... Ahhhh Vegas, my favorite town.

The filter sweeps in the middle of Madonna's "Ray of Light" always look cool in a spectrometer.

Hmm, I just checked it, they're more spectacular in a regular spectrometer instead of the logarithmic one. I like them in the stereo spectrometer the best.

Donna Summer did a song on VH1 Live. It was originally written by her for Rod Stewart, but she was too shy to give it to him. She made her own version that is like disco music. The song starts out a very slow ballad and then turns into dance/club music. It looks totally awesome on the display because of her vocal range. Also, I don't know if you like Amazing Grace, but bag pipes sound pretty decent if you have piezo tweeters installed, and they look really awesome on spectrolog 128 too.

Actually now that I think about it, I have the NIN remix album of "closer" and most of the remixes look pretty good too.

They look pretty cool on the 128 vis too. If you have a subwoofer, you will REALLY appreciate the remixes...

get any song made my aphex twin, he relly dose some weird things with sounds the coolest is with the the song windowlicker in the visual timeshade, at the very end there are some weird sounds and it makes his face on the screen.. he really dose weird sounds an hz settings so it makes the empeg do things u havent seen it do before.. as far as visuals go

(I also watched the end of the song on timeshade and could see a shape being formed but I couldn't make it out. Is it definitely his face? If so, is he looking right at you or to the side?)

I would have to recommend any of Joe Satriani's stuff. They look perfect on SpectroLog as he does have great note separation. His 'Swallow the Lizard' sound looks particularly weird on any of these visuals (Timeshade is pretty good too)

I finally dug up that track and played it in Visual Timeshade mode -- COOL! Mind you, I see a very distinct pattern, but nothing anything remotely like a face.

Maybe its a rorschach test.

well its accully a face.. when you have a real full scale grafic of it you can see it.. the only thing u can make out on the player is that aphex A.. pretty cool thou.. hehe

I don't seem to have that one! I have the Spectrometer and Spectrokit 128. Are they just differenty named in the later models, or is there add on visuals available.

And what is Flancedoor/edit ??? Another visual I haven't found yet ?

Which software version are you using? IIRC, that one was introduced in one the 2.0bX versions. To check software version, select About in the players menu.

Your player probably came with 1.02, 1.03 is latest "stable" version, 2.0b11 is latest beta version.
