Is it normal to see these wires glow on a Mk2? They're not very bright, but can be seen on my amber filtered display under low ambient lighting.

Something I can fix with a soldering iron and a component change?

Read this thread (I sure hope the link displays correctly):

http://empeg.comms.net/php/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=empeg_tech&Number=69108&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=

I asked the same question on Feb. 14th.

Thanks frekin. That thread pretty well covers this issue. Guess I'll just learn to ignore it.

Too bad there wasn't a good transflective LCD display available at the time the Mk2 was designed. Seeing the filament wires at night is a very minor issue compared to seeing nothing at all when the top is down and the sun washes out the display.

Okay, made a FAQ entry. I know "2" doesn't count as "frequent", but it was easy enough.

There still isn't anything which we'd consider suitable - we wanted fast response times and something we could use behind a panel to make the ID work simple. VF still has the edge for this sort of stuff, which is why high-end (non OEL) car audio still uses it. OEL is nicer, but wasn't available publically at the time we wanted to use it.

I think it is actually three times now Tony, so you're good.

Just change the name to FAQAQNATFBWBIWDHSAWOCFAQM.
