People in NYC are being threatened with having their cable internet access cut off for sharing it (article). I don't know where to stand on this subject. I have an 802.11b network that is sharing DSL. However, it is WEP "protected" and I don't publish my location as being open. I also don't share my connection with my AOL-using neighbors.

Sharing and publishing a totally open cable modem hookup is wrong IMHO. I think it's just as bad as re-broadcasting HBO over a VHF signal that any TV can tune to.
