I think excel is a safe bet most of the time because nearly every man, woman and child has access to it somewhere
Unless I'm using Linux. Or Solaris, or HP-UX, or FreeBSD, or .... Given, there are a few programs that can read Excel's proprietary format, but why bother? The .xls format above is four times the size of the .csv I posted with the same information. Plus, everybody can read the .csv, even if they don't have a spreadsheet program at all. I don't mean to be berating you, but it's these sorts of statements and ideas that allow Microsoft to retain their strangehold on modern computing.
