I think hitting "Cancel" on the remote ought to get rid of the Pop-Up, and then permit use of the Hijack menu..

"Cancel" on the remote was one of the things I'd tried. Presses of the cancel key did not do anything until later when all of my keystrokes spilled out of some kind of buffer.
