I noticed that most US TV programmes are 4:3 - eg. CSI, Buffy. I have heard a lot about HDTV - considering most effort is going into getting that in the marketplace the US is not going for 16:9 at all?

I made an impulse purchase of a Turkish made unbranded 16:9 from Sainsbury's a few weeks back - cost £229 and it is pretty good, certainly not Wega quality and the speakers are very bad but the screen is reasonably straight edged and flat. It could blow up in a few years and I won't be annoyed - it is a huge step up from a 14" 4:3!!
