It is an amazing kind of pain, totally relentless. It doesn't wax and wane, it never gives you a chance to catch your breath and regroup.

When I lived with my older brother during college, he had a kidney stone. It hurt so bad that he actually let me drive him to the doctor in his truck. It's the one and only time that I was allowed to drive his truck. It must hurt, badly... He appeared to be in great pain, more than I could ever inflict upon him....
Driving the truck was no big deal, he's just that way about his stuff. I have better stuff, anyways.
