dis you start it up with ./displayserver ?
the correct way would be :

# cd <install-dir>
# ./displayserver

where <install-dir> is the directory you unpacked the install.sh file

the crash at the end is probably caused by the applet not shutting down the connection it opened to retrieve fascia.jpg
