This means there is some kind of data error. Likely a loose connection on the cable or the IDE header. You must solve that problem before the builder software will work.

Once you've taken care of the issue with the IDE hardware, make sure to follow all the steps in the drive upgrade guide.

Your best bet is to use software version 2.0 final to make sure everything is working and stable. Once it's all OK and everything is working correctly, then you can experiment with the V3 alphas.
