Oh, and there's always the normal "compatibility mode" settings. Navigate in the Windows Explorer (not Internet explorer) to the location where your executable is. Right-click on the .exe file, and select "properties." In the dialog box that pops up, there's a "Compatibility" tab. Select that, and toggle on the "Run this program in compatibility mode for".

The XP mode stuff detailed in the above link may not be necessary, at all.
