Neutral wires are typically tied together like this. At the end of the circuit a neutral and a hot will be on either side of the appliance (light for instance).

Switches don't necessarily get a ground wire attached to them. If there's a green grounding screw then you can attach a ground wire to the switch, otherwise the grounding wires typically are attached to the box.
