Couldn't you use an md5 hash over the mountpoint _name_ instead of the partitions major/minor? By that, mp3tofid wouldn't recreate the whole database if the drive and/or partition changes its position, which can happen quite often on some systems (like mine: I often add/remove harddiscs or controllers, but the mount point for partitions always stays the same because I mount them by volume labels).
