I think we were sent reeling by the idea that a SATA driver can be fifteen megabytes, or an ethernet driver forty.

Aren't we glad that disk storage is down to less than one one-hundredth of a penny per megabyte now? The first computer I ever used cost $1,600
dollars per megabyte. That's something like nine orders of magnitude change (did I figure that right?)

The instructions that came with my NexStar external SATA dock said to always use the "Safely Remove Hardware" utility before removing or powering off the external drive. I always wondered if that was really necessary? It seems to be a moot point now, because with the new driver installed that utility is no longer available in my system tray. Should that concern me?
