FWIW, I've got a Hootoo adapter (discussed in your linked Wirecutter article) and a Dell DA200. Both work great. I particularly like the way the Dell's captive cable folds back into the case.

I set up that Hootoo adapter for one client and wasn't wild about it. I'm not sure why. It just seemed a little flaky to me.

I've set up two clients with the DA200 and it's fantastic for travelling presenters. It's amazing that they were able to fit a VGA connector on that tiny little thing. I can't wait for the day when everyone finally replaces their projectors and we can say goodbye to VGA.
