I just bought a new TV and this was one of the questions that came up while we were talking about the one I wanted. I was told that I could expect the bulb in mine to last about 3-4 years depending on how much TV I watched, but it would cost about $250 for a new lamp unit. It looks ridiculously easy to replace, at least.
