Um, not good. Those timeouts look like a hardware issue (cable, drive or header) that are causing you trouble. It seems that all of them are associated with hda, so it might be a cable crimp issue.

As for stopping, try ctrl-c first. You do not really want to unplug (and get dirty filesystems) if you can avoidit.
